Happy Birthday Anyone ?

Everyone should have a birthday I supposed, but some may not have one. I supposed that for those that has one is very fortunate, to mark the day that he or she has managed successfully through a safe immortality threshold and awaits for the next to come for next year. Agree ?

Some would tend to say that "birthday" is not an essential celebration because if you live life fullest, it is a birthday everyday. True to some degree for that statement but it is still considered as an accomplishment to have lived todate for a causeful celebration, surrounded by loved ones and friends. Well, if this is not, what else reasons can we look forward for a celebration and a family or network ties to take place. We, human beings are a creature that looks for opportunities and
excuses to fill those filler gaps in life to make it more perfect or less visible to detect for a "deficiency" in fraternity needs, hence parties and a reason to have a cake was born and still thriving in society for that sharing of the sweets.

It is always the tradition to make a wish before the candle blowing ceremony after a wishful Birthday song rendition from the folks, I wonder if it ever comes true, for me, it has not been answered, hence, the blowing continues., exceptionally has more candles than it was first started.

Well, no qualms or complaints, we are blessed to have the cake each year and more candles to blow rather than a cake for an altar or a blessing ceremony, for a 6 foot underground arrangement, I supposed not.

Stupidity vs Intelligence

Sometimes I wonder why some people just cannot carry instructions or even have some clue to manage themselves. All they do is sulks and blame that they are unfairly judged or another day of their bad luck strikes by their bosses' mood swings.

It is very normal and is part of the lifetime acquisition and effort to make oneself lifted from that category of what we called "stupid" , nobody is born genius or intelligent but it is through a very scheduler process of sharpening the speech, general knowledge, articulation, experience and etc... before one reaches the level of a more meaningful intellectual level.

However, I must not deny that there are certain type of "people" that are so well trained of the "thick skin therapy" that could suffer and live-on with any sarcasm and any failures endured without any remorse guilt and still continues with that attitude unchanged. They are just simply a "pain" to many others and with their non-remediative action in plan or a modification of attitude in their priority list at all. All they know is that they would find any form of excuses to blame or sulking for what they have failed to accomplish or at worst for what they have not done. I am not sure why these people would opt for blaming instead of them positively learn up the trades or boosting the initiative of having the skills acquired in no time so that they are competent once and for the rest of their lifetime career. If they are not doing so, isn't that a short abbreviations for us to categorise them in one phrase, "stupid" where in actual fact that they have many options to be out from that categorisation, isn't that a clear case for a self inflicted -faulting issue of him or her, a truly diagnosis of a brain disease that are associated with the grain of ingredients of laziness, obstinate, clueless, prioritisation failure, acting dumb, and may other etc.

The cure to these people lies within themselves and if they choose the same path again and again, they will just end up the same destination and goes no where. So work it up as simple as it is, don't ever self pity neither be pitied by others.

Dissastifaction


Dissatisfaction are commonsly associated with anger, unjust, unruly emotions, frustration and many more adverse reflex of the complexity of a human being.

What biological reflex or chemistry that perturbed oneself from displaying such gruelsome attitude and unsatisfied hunger? Well, I don't know, perhaps it has a lot to do with the person's EQ - Emotion Quality Control, some will somehow managed it well and some just blast it out that shows all their innards in one go. Which one are you?

I believe that sometimes, logicality and rationale thinking will helps oneself making the u-turn from reaching the optimum of a dissatisfied behavioural actions. Just take a deep breathe and think of the positive side of the adverse situation, or if you can't, just imagine that it is a challenge posed for evaluating your ability and prowess in having it solved. Don't ever start to look for a scapegoat or an excuse to get the blame or shoving it to someone else, by thinking that it will alleviates the problems. In fact you will harbour more negative vibes and making yourself the worst person on earth by lying to your very ownself with no betterment to your dissastifactory neither an antidote to your grievances.

Get positive vibes by meditation and throwing out nothing but good words of wisdom, generously sharing with others and it definitely makes you a happier person and you will find the sun shining to its highest greenwich, just on you.

A Blessing or A Curse

Often not we complain and complain and complain...seemingly a contagious disease that will affect many others.. We would find excuses to bail oneself out from any scenarios or dodge circumstances or at worst living life in full denial. Human beings are always complex and will continue to be complicated as it is for many more decades or century.

For illustration purposes, some marriages are just like a contract that binds oneself to another person for many years, those that are lucky or deemed unlucky. As many would say that during courtships, you get roses, after 1st child, you get a kiss and after 5 years, you are omitted from any activities and so forth. Is that true? Well, for some that do not continually and dedicatedly find new thrills to spark new life will for sure end up in monogamous relationship but with a valid binding contract. Is that a life that you want or there are something that both has by the name of "responsibility" to fill up those monotonous gaps that both are assigned to put back colors of life that once use to be? Or simply chooses to complain and complain or cheating each others to fullfil the missing jigsaw of the lust with someone else and live with a hidden sin.

Human are a greedy creature by creation, they possessed it and feel bored with it and chucking that aside but still have no plans to donate it out neither dumping it. They just love to keep and cherish the sense of belonging but tagging it value-less. We often find new thrills that comes along in life and tends to forget the roots or a temporary insanity strikes that one may lose control over it and commit crimes or adultery. The good feeling that propels from that new discovery are often an over burst of new found energy
and feel good endorphins factor. People needs excitement and new explore to kill boredom and for the best gastronomical array of food available on earth also cannot savored the satisfaction of a human being, so what is else is?

This concludes that we need to find our own colors to create rainbows and creating it again and again under your wish fulfilling lifestyle to achieve the best in life for you and whomever that you are sharing with or planning to share. It is entirely up to individuals to accept the boredom or instead creating new experience or new energy that suffice to sparks and spills colors to life.

So would you like to have a boring life or putting effort to create a palette of colors to your life? It is your choice not mine. Life as pitcher plants that has one boring function to trap invited insects has no colors to cherish but you do, why waste time?

Relationships

Can you live life alone? Of course you can but you rather choose not to, just because you do not want to be associated with the word loneliness... Sometime I really wonder why we need companionship ? or descending generation ? In the nutshell, it is always better that someone could take care of you in bad times rather than someone sharing the good times. It is just like an insurance policy to ensure that you are somehow guaranteed for a coverage in case that your mobility or mental is challenged which require for unlimited patience and unconditional givings to care for the shortcomes in life.

Life is just a fragile pace and to choose to live passionately or submersively, is entirely up to one person to decide. So why so many are still not choosing the ones that are walked by many to prove happiness and wealthy? I still can't seem to get an answer for this.

In any circumstance, I think it is only wise to cherish with those that are around you and to tell them how much you care for them or how much you want to be care of, or simply the magic word of "I love you" is just so crucial and meaningful. The clock has no mercy and is just clicking by the seconds and you must agree that within a split seconds, anything could just happen and some may just makes the clock stop ticking, which is irreversible and money for sure can't buy back the time frame. It would just become what we call memories... which also can be classified as sweet or sour category. Lets do it before it reach a state what we call remorseful and a black solemn experience that one lives to regret for or living in it. The sun still rise early everyday, so just cherish them and exudes your love and passion for the dear ones and sharing the best of your life is still the most wonderful things to do and to live for. Let the bygones be gone and welcoming the new living agendas to cherish. Agree ?

Purest from Dirtiest

Well, have you ever cross the mind that Lotus flowers emerge from the most dirtiest mud filled lakes and the flowers are a world wide symbolic of the purest offerings to the Gods ?

It is also applicable to our day to day lives where we handle projects or assignments that has rough commencement or adverse tidal effects, that just don't seem right at any stage, no matter what is being done. However, in any circumstance, just like a Chinese quote, "all boats will comes straight again when they reach the pier" all shortcomes will have an end when handled properly and wholeheartedly. Moral of the story is that, if matters don't fall into the perfect jigsaw spaces, you ought to find solution with good IQ and EQ balance to get a perfect fix of that jigsaw space, once you find that last piece, you will sparks off good sense of achievement or self- satisfaction. However, sometimes you may need some form of support or moral support from your bosses and most of the time you may not get the recognition of your effort contributed but instead instantly inherited by your immediate boss as his or her credit. Under that frustration, you could only adopt a saying that "Life isn't a bed of roses" even if it is, it may be full of hidden thorns. Just make life simple and happier, by telling yourself that your incredibly good work performance has benefited others to pursue their dreams and vision in hope that it will benefits the company as a whole, in turn will leave better trails of good year-end monetary incentives. Isn't that makes you feel like an overly inflated big heart person and a more meaningful person, for your to cherish every moment that you have contributed? Well, to ponder. A Lotus flower can permeated from the slimiest muds to a perfected bloom of admiration to many, why not us as well to adopt its biological growth?

Effort Versus Laziness

Looking at the effort put in to fold those hotel's room towels into an artistic amenities, one would quickly conclude that the person behind the scene is hardworking and managed by a competent manager, and so on.

However, some form of human being are just a split-personality where they would just pretending to be hardworking and in real, they are just a show-off peacock with a fluffy colorful feathers that serves no purpose but purely for other's admiration. This applies for the many people in the corporate culture too where they are such a show-off and taking other's credit where they have not contributed and for worst some whom don't even know the head and tail how it was achieved, these people tends to be successful too living on morsels of leftover foods like a scavenger, Life is such a varieties and diversification that produced such balance of perfect and imperfect human being named homo sapiens.

Back to the cute towel amenities, it is crucial and vital that one acknowledges one's contribution sincerely and foremost to the right recipient, in this case the person that folds this linen to a splendid artitistic amenities of display, is the right person to thank, way to go.

Childhood Memories




I wonder if you could remember those days in the 70's and 80's where the popular characters from Disney was broadcasted in those black & white TVs and later the introduction of the new invention, the coloured TVs.... for me, it is fondly remembered, in fact it is still fresh in one of the corner of my mind for the ever popular Mickey and Minnie's character. I think these characters are soon diminishing in today's era and most children would be more familiar with their PSP or Nintendos. To cherish the past? or a great thing to forget the past ? I still pondering in search for an answer......

I have just learned that not all trees bores good succulent sweet fruits and it is the quality of the exact manner that you have sowed, taking care of it and how you nurture the tree. This theory is also applicable for people where you treat and care for them nicely, probably you will receive the same treatment that you have given wholeheartedly.. but if you don't, it is equally acceptable because some people just do not know or do not want to repay the kindness of the giver but just to remain as a recipient only to receive.... At some juncture of life, you will feel whether are u just alone in the world or you have a hoards of family members & friends that you love dearly or loves you dearly by your side BUT slowly diminishing from the registration file at the planet earth to somewhere peaceful and unknown. Always, people quote 'Life Goes On' ! , but will it be the same again?. I always ponder whether what kind of emotional tolerance I can forked out for a life changing dismissals of your loved ones be it a naturally or an unexpected tragedy. Have you ever had this thoughts? Human are made of ingredients with full complexity that comprised emotions and the physical framework, but entirety governed by the emotions most of the time that brings you the thrill, anger, happy, screamish, sad, sob, down and more by some individuals. So do u agree that life is just too short for one to make decision daily to be happy or sad or angry? Time is the essence and spending it wisely and prioritised it to the importance of it , is wise. The clock is stil clicking away seconds that are irreversible........It is better late than never begin in the first place....

The Political Arena

Well, who says that there are no office politics in the Hotel business. In reality there is and very much depending what you want to see, hear or even experience .....

Sometimes, politics exist for some reasons like protecting one's job, accelerates one's promotions, tactical strategies to remove one from their job, for personal gains or interest, harbors ill feeling to others to tarnish one's integrity, backstabbing efforts ... for some, they are just neutral to feel or even participating in the arena. So which pro to-type are you belonging to?

I believe your answer is "depend on the situation", am I right?

Yes and No....

Human or Homo Sapiens are creation of Gods and they are so complicated and naturally they would create a force shield when they are under the impression of being attack or assault. This is natural reflex that if one perceives that they are under attack by words or gestures that brings harm to your career or even integrity, automatically one will find ways to counter attack in a demeanor of choice, to be visible or an invisible attack mode. Both has its brutality effect that may launched to a serious consequences if it is out of control and no one mediate the situation.

Is it wise to be neutral then ?

Yes and No again

Well , there is a saying that "Those Who Lives Life's Quietly Lives Poorly"
. Neutral position has a 50/50 in ration of advantages vs disadvantages. The "Neutral Role" are often categorised as poorly calibre or less character that often not in the bottom of the popularity list, which is totally the opposite of the "Political Role". They may be a "yes" person and to avoid all the political flagships, they just says yes and shut their door tight afterwhich. Sometimes, staying out the arena is a good choice but at times, you don't step into others boundaries but instead some others will step over instead.

In today's corporate organisation, the thingy named "Politics" exist and it is a game plan that we need to juggle tactfully, gracefully, professionally, smartly, emphatically etc... to see positive results instead of getting a ball of fire swinging over. One must remember, whatever that goes around will definitely comes around, because the globe is round ! It is just a matter of time..

Label this as a learning experience if you are brutally attacked or you have brutally attacked someone in the hierarchy..It is just a part and parcel of the journey in the Hotel industry....

The Gen Y vs Gen X

I cannot deny that I was groomed from the Gen X and has live through the evolvement of generation change and its metamorphosis, gradually I am also adapting the style and learned the many traits of a Gen Y. Well, you must be wondering what I am talking about?

I was brought up in Hotel business that puts these traits as a dominant criteria to success, contribute more time to the Hotel and more time by the days, months and years, obviously the more the better policy. The more higher you have climbed the hierarchy of the organizational chart, well the more time you need to dedicate to the Hotel. The initiatives to acquire new knowledge and experience were so profound that we have perpetually acquire many multi task skills over accumulated time frame. We were so adamant to success and ensuring that every moves are being observed and acknowledged by the superiors so that the crowning of the next available promotions are secured deservingly. In short, we will do anything to improves ourselves and making the experiences and new skills work to its optimum when the opportunity strikes.

However, these strategies and philosophy has wilted for some and died-off with the new evolution and the emergence of the Gen Y. The new generations are well educated in papers and some are saltishly savoured with overseas degrees and PHD etc. Upon their graduation and accomplishment in tertiary minimums, the Gen Y would have high self esteemed and confidence that resulted them looking forward for an attractively remunerated jobs or at least executive-Manager positions for their first entry in their resume. Well, the Hotels being still very much unchanged and offering the newbies the rank& file positions or for some lucky ones will be enrolled in Management Development Programs as Management trainees . Newbies in Hotel industry is too anxious to achieve their goals and forgotten the relevancy of the acquired experience that are so indispensable to the viability of oneself in this hospitality industry. Everyday is a new explore of the most complicated creature's demands, needs, wants etc. named homo sapiens, the man, the Guest and the employees. The learning experience and acquired experience are always a different subject to me, it just gives you the basis to handle the adversities and the celebrations as well. Well, for sure the educations system of any Hotel School, do not offer this chapter neither any syllables in the academic history.

Gen Y has so much tendencies to hop for any greener pastures as long as they see that there are changes in their employment's perks and remuneration value and forsaking the loyalty and a stable escalation in their career pathment. Gone are the days that the Hotelier slowly waiting for their succession plannings and staying back for the sake of job security and experience acquisition. They have new sets of priorities , that so much linked with a more meaningful word "Lifestyle". They want to work less but work smart and balancing the act of Quality and Quantity . They want to settle down earlier with assets ie. house, nice cars and club memberships etc. They do not believe is hogging in the long hours of work and a tandem monotonous lifestyle that can so much be predicted. They do not let new opportunities to slipped away from their hands but to take every initiatives to grab one as long as it crossed their path.

I noticed and experiencing now, agreeing and accepted the fact that the Gen Y are different, it is no longer an existence of the Gen X that does everything under one roof and not complaining a single word and terming those as an endowment to pay for travelling to the road of success. We are now living in a different era of mindset and lifestyle that we need to acknowledge by constantly adapting and adopting to the new approach of leadership and to produce results with a brandnew strategies. The Gen Y comes with an outburst of energies and we just need to alay these energies to the right chamber and most importantly to the right directions so that the Hotel can have better yield and a tinge of creativity above the rest of the competitors and foremost the improvements that is the by-product of this exercise.

Just More Hotels or Just Too Many Hoteliers

If you are a Hotelier, you may just noticed the downsizing of Human Resources in the many Departments of the Hotel. Commonly practising, is the natural attrition of resignations that never gets a replacement ...and more so to an enriched job descriptions or a multi- tasking roles. So is that a good news or bad news? yes and no.....

The economy is still gloomy and filled with uncertainties despite the many indicators showing a recovery and the rally in the equities really instilled some confidence back to investors and many of us. So is the Hotel business badly affected, if you asked a Hotelier, they probably will tell you, it is indeed badly affected. Most Hotels would have done a serious brainstorming sessions that churned and juiced out the last intelligence droplets for cost containment effort. It is indeed a wise strategies to adopt if the revenue is not taking the strides that it should. Everyone and every sections are buckling their belts a few notches up and hoping that the profit margin would looks better as a return to the owners. True enough that this exercise will put back a few percentages back to the bottom line and creates awareness that the Hotel is indeed in dire straits of getting the balancing act to juggle the revenue - overheads = profit or loss. We are amazed how the suppliers co-operates for an adamant-requested dip in their pricing and how the service contracts worked out with a reduced numbers and reaching compromises that helps one another to pass through the difficult times. That brilliant move has saves the Profit & loss statement a couple of percent less in overheads and a marginal increase in the bottom line.

Despite the economic recessions, I am really scratching my head now puzzling why there are still many Hoteliers tendering their resignations and some at worst without a job. Is that what we called a generation Y syndrome ? looking out for a "Lifestyle" ? Isn't that a clear indication of employment instability and a fearful "Last In First Out" system if the Hotel or company fails to perform at its optimum and ideal ? Well, we still have resignations rolling in and I assumed as part of the life cycle that one has to face and here comes the rat race action, recruitment process and the training & coaching cycles.... This probably resulted the birth of a department named Human Resources.... that supposedly function as such, I assumed....

We will explore what an employee would want in this era and what are their priorities in life and in career.
